Franklin County Disaster Service Center moves to public library

Franklin County said in a Facebook post that its Disaster Service Center will move to a new location beginning Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. The center will operate out of the Franklin County Public Library at 38 S. 1st Street in Meadville, Miss., the post said.

Disaster service centers typically provide a central point of contact for residents seeking information and assistance after storms, floods or other emergencies, including guidance on sheltering, recovery resources and registering for aid. County-run centers often coordinate with local emergency management and nonprofit partners to connect affected households with services.

The move to the public library is likely to affect how residents access the center, since libraries often serve as community hubs with accessible locations and regular hours. The Facebook post invited readers to send a message for more information about the relocation and any changes to services or hours.
