Disaster service center in Wilkinson County remains open after May storms

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said the Disaster Service Center in Wilkinson County is open for residents affected by the May 6-7 severe storms, designated under federal disaster declaration DR-4922.

The agency said applicants will need to provide a Social Security number, contact information, household income before taxes, damage information, insurance information and direct deposit information when applying for assistance.

Residents do not have to visit the center to apply. FEMA applications are available online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The deadline to apply is Aug. 31, the agency said in a Facebook post.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency coordinates state emergency response and works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help survivors access federal assistance after declared disasters. Disaster Service Centers provide in-person help with applications and information about available programs, which can be important for households seeking recovery resources.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
