A Facebook post says disaster service centers in four counties are ready to serve residents impacted by the severe storms of May 6-7.
The centers allow residents to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists from the state emergency management agency (MEMA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The post instructs applicants to use Disaster Number DR-4922 when applying for assistance. Recovery specialists typically help residents learn about available programs, determine eligibility and complete applications for federal and state disaster aid.
FEMA provides individual assistance and other disaster programs, and the SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters and businesses; MEMA coordinates state-level response and recovery efforts. In-person centers serve as centralized locations where residents can get guidance from multiple agencies in one place.
Officials say the centers aim to speed recovery for those affected by the storms. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
