Two arrested after search of Oxford vape store, authorities say

Two Oxford residents were arrested after Lafayette County Metro Narcotics agents searched Puffs Vape, Tobacco and Beer Store and recovered more than 500 units of kratom, THC cartridges, gummies and other suspected narcotics, according to a news release from the unit.

The unit said it received information Thursday, September 24, 2026, about the alleged sale of illegal substances at a retail business in Oxford. During the investigation, agents conducted a controlled purchase and then applied for and received a search warrant based on evidence gathered, the release said.

Officers executed the warrant at the store in the 100 block of Heritage Drive. Kratom has been prohibited from possession, distribution and sale within Oxford since 2019, according to the release.

Yahya Mohamed Mosleh, 51, of Oxford, and Islam Mohamed, 18, of Oxford, were charged with possession of Schedule I controlled substances with intent to distribute, the unit said.

The release said store owner Amer Alowdi, 40, was indicted for trafficking narcotics in 2022 and fled the country before prosecution. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

The investigation remains active, and the unit said additional information will be released when appropriate.
