Pike County sheriff, community members join annual .911-Mile Run
Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones and members of his leadership team joined firefighters, law enforcement officers, military personnel and Pike County citizens in the annual .911-Mile Run honoring the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The run begins at the western end of Delaware Avenue and continues to the Downtown Fire Station. It brings together public safety and military communities and residents to remember those who died and honor the courage of those who answered the call to serve.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office said the event represents remembrance, unity, sacrifice, courage and service. The office also honored the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001, and the families whose lives were forever changed.
