Officer Hayden Wyers has graduated from the Harrison County Law Enforcement Academy and will begin serving the citizens of Gulfport as a member of the Gulfport Police Department.
Wyers received the academy’s Firearms Award. Lieutenant Jason Ducre was selected as Favorite Instructor.

The department welcomed Wyers to its ranks and said it expects him to make a positive impact in the Gulfport community.

A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
