The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office recognized women serving at the agency and at law enforcement agencies across Mississippi in a National Police Women’s Day message attributed to Sheriff Tyree D. Jones.
The message honored their daily service and said their work helps keep the agency operating and communities safe. It also recognized the courage, professionalism and commitment of women whose work often goes unseen.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
