Southern Miss wins Badger Invitational as Jake Moffitt claims individual title

Jake Moffitt won the individual title and Southern Miss captured the 2026 Badger Invitational on Tuesday in Madison, Wisconsin, after closing with a tournament-best 11-under 277. The Golden Eagles finished at 23-under, six strokes ahead of runner-up South Dakota State.

Moffitt, who began the final round in first place, shot a five-under 67 to finish at 14-under 202 and win by three strokes over South Dakota's Cole Witherow. He made seven birdies, including six on his first nine holes, and tied Witherow for the tournament lead with 18 birdies. Moffitt also led the field in par-3 scoring at three-under.

The victory was Southern Miss' third individual title of the season, following Benjamin Fernandez's win at the JT Poston Invitational and John Markow's title at the Goat Hill Individual Championship. It was the first time the Golden Eagles had won three individual titles in a season since 2022-23 and their most since winning four in 2014-15.

Supakorn Amornchaichan posted Southern Miss' best round of the day, a bogey-free six-under 66 with six birdies. He climbed 17 spots into a tie for fourth at seven-under 209. Benjamin Fernandez shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for sixth at five-under 211, giving Southern Miss three players in the top six.

Southern Miss entered the final round with a two-stroke lead over South Dakota State and extended it to six with the tournament's best team round. Western Kentucky and Wisconsin tied for third at nine-under, followed by St. Thomas at eight-under and Northern Illinois at six-under.

The Golden Eagles will next compete at the Blessings Collegiate in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Oct. 3-5.
