Southern Miss opens Badger Invitational in third; Markow leads Goat Hill

Jake Moffitt shot a five-under-par 67 to help Southern Miss open the 2026 Badger Invitational in third place, while John Markow held the lead after two rounds of the Goat Hill Individual Championship in Wisconsin.

Southern Miss carded a seven-under first round at University Ridge Golf Course, three strokes behind Green Bay and one ahead of host Wisconsin. Western Kentucky was second at eight under. Moffitt tied for second individually after making six birdies and an eagle on the par-5 16th, against three bogeys.

Benjamin Fernandez was tied for sixth after a four-under 68. Franco Fernandez and Supakorn Amornchaichan each shot 73 and were tied for 39th, while Matthew Javier was tied for 51st with a 74.

At Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton, Markow led the Goat Hill field at nine-under 131, three strokes ahead of St. Thomas’ Zach Rouleau. Markow opened with a 66 and followed with a 65 that included an eagle on the 606-yard par-5 11th, four birdies and one bogey.

Grayson Davis was tied for third at three-under 137 after rounds of 67 and 70. Filip Sakota was tied for sixth at one-under 139, while Walker Wise was 24th at 10-over 150 after improving from an 80 in the first round to an even-par 70 in the second.

The Badger Invitational was scheduled to continue Monday and conclude Tuesday, Sept. 29. The Goat Hill individual champion was to be crowned after Monday’s final round.
