No. 12 Blue Mountain Christian ends historic season; Riddle advances at NAIA championship
SILVIS, Illinois — No. 12 Blue Mountain Christian’s historic 2025-26 men’s golf season ended Wednesday at the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship at TPC at Deere Run when the Toppers narrowly missed the cut after two rounds, while sophomore Cobey Riddle advanced individually and sat tied for fourth through two rounds.
Riddle opened the tournament with a 70 on Tuesday and followed with a 71 in round two on the par-70 course to stand three-under par through two rounds. Late in his second round, Riddle gained momentum by playing holes 15 through 17 all at one-under par and will continue in round three on Thursday.
Blue Mountain Christian capped one of the program’s most successful seasons, remaining inside the NAIA top 15 throughout the year and reaching as high as No. 4 in the first rating release. Riddle won the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational earlier in the season; junior Alex Nordstrom delivered steady results and remained ranked inside the top 15 nationally on Clippd, and freshman Simon Meiby posted a top-six finish during the year.
Head coach Kevin Barefield praised the team’s growth and commitment. “This team changed the standard for our program,” Head coach Kevin Barefield said. “From the first event in the fall until nationals, they competed with confidence and represented Blue Mountain Christian the right way. I’m proud of every player on this roster because each one played a major role in the success we had this season. Cobey continuing individually is special, but it also reflects the work this entire team has put in throughout the year.” This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
