Blue Mountain Christian earns first NAIA opening round bid

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Blue Mountain Christian University softball team learned Wednesday at 5 p.m. that it earned an at-large bid into the 2026 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, marking the first national tournament appearance in program history, the school said.

The selection represents a milestone for the program, which has steadily developed its roster and competitive profile within the NAIA ranks. An at-large bid indicates the selection committee chose the team for the postseason field rather than through an automatic conference qualifier.

The NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round is the first stage of the association’s postseason tournament that culminates in the national championship. Participation gives teams national exposure and the opportunity to advance through regional and national rounds against other qualifying programs.

The school did not release additional details about seeding, opponents or game dates in the announcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
