Mississippi State earns scoreless draw at No. 9 Tennessee

Mississippi State earned a critical road draw at No. 9 Tennessee, shutting out the Lady Vols for the first time since 2015. Tennessee finished with six shots, its fewest of the season.

The Bulldogs controlled the opening half, outshooting Tennessee 11-0. Mississippi State created several chances, including a 27th-minute shot by Laila Murillo that was pushed over the crossbar, while Kara Harris also put a shot on target.

Jenny Harrison recorded her third shutout of the season and did not have to make a save until the 82nd minute. Murillo, Harris and Chiara Tappe led Mississippi State with three shots apiece; Murillo put two shots on frame, and Harris had one.

Tennessee's Nyla Blue received a red card in the 77th minute for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity after taking down Murillo during a breakaway involving Murillo and Hailey Johnson. Mississippi State managed three shots after the sending-off but could not break the deadlock.

Mississippi State continues its road schedule Sunday at Kentucky. The match is scheduled for noon CT and will be carried on SEC Network+.
