Alcorn State, Troy play to 3-3 draw in women’s soccer

Alcorn State and Troy played to a 3-3 draw Sunday afternoon in Troy, Alabama, in a back-and-forth women’s soccer match. The Braves recorded 31 shots, their season high, including 20 in the second half.

Elive Larissa Joso Luma opened the scoring for Alcorn in the 18th minute, assisted by Annick Zouma and Ainara Aldeano. Troy equalized in the 23rd minute, but Joso Luma scored again in the 34th minute with assists from Grace Ambrose and Zouma to give the Braves a 2-1 halftime lead.

Irene Torres tied the match for Troy in the 67th minute. Zouma put Alcorn back in front two minutes later, scoring in the 69th minute, before Troy’s Uncapher converted a penalty kick in the 87th minute to secure the 3-3 draw.

The result was Alcorn’s first tie of the season. The Lady Braves are scheduled to visit Chapel Hill on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. to face North Carolina.
