Lee rallies past Mississippi College 2-1 in men’s soccer

Lee defeated Mississippi College 2-1 at Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tennessee, overcoming an early deficit with goals from Thomas Stift and Andreas Aspris.

Mississippi College took a 1-0 lead when Benjamin Ellis scored at 14:30. Ellis converted his only shot, putting it on goal.

Lee tied the match at 1-1 when Stift scored at 36:39. Aspris then scored at 56:14 off an assist from Ole Backfisch to give Lee the lead.

Lee finished with a 12-9 advantage in shots. Mississippi College generated seven of its nine shots in the second half and put four on goal overall. Karim Gegg led the Choctaws with three shots, including two on goal.

Lee goalkeeper Elliot Duffy played all 90 minutes and made four saves. The match included 29 combined fouls, and Lee received three yellow cards.

Mississippi College fell to 2-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play. Lee improved to 6-2-2 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.

Lee is scheduled to host AUM on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 3:30 p.m. in Clinton, Mississippi.
