Delta State Athletics lists soccer, football and other events for week

Delta State Athletics listed a week of events including a press conference, golf, tennis, soccer, cross country, football and swimming and diving competitions.

The Mississippi Farm Bureau Press Conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Arant Family Room at Chadwick Dickson. The event will be streamed on the Delta State YouTube channel, @DSUStatesmen, and media members are invited to attend.

Men’s golf is scheduled to compete in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Preview in Saint Leo, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday. Tennis is scheduled for the Gulf South Conference Fall Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from Friday through Sunday.

Saturday’s schedule includes women’s soccer against Trevecca Nazarene University at 1 p.m. and men’s soccer against the same opponent at 3:30 p.m. Both matches are listed at the Trevecca Soccer Complex in Nashville, Tennessee. Cross country is scheduled to compete at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, while swimming and diving is scheduled to compete at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Delta State football is scheduled to play Shorter at 6 p.m. Saturday at Parker Field at McCool Stadium in Cleveland. The schedule lists live coverage options for the soccer matches and football, along with live statistics; football also lists a radio broadcast option.

The athletics department’s listed top headlines include a 2-1 Lady Statesmen victory over the Tigers, the team’s second consecutive win; an opening performance at the Magnolia State Invite; and a second-place finish at the Topper Trails Classic.

Austin Huffhines and Olivia Murphy are listed as players of the week for swimming and diving. Each helped a 200-yard medley relay team finish first and also won the 200-yard freestyle, according to the athletics listing.
