Blue Mountain Christian women blank ABAC 3-0 for second SSAC win

Blue Mountain Christian University’s women’s soccer team defeated Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 3-0 at The Summit, earning its second Southern States Athletic Conference victory of the season. The Toppers improved to 2-1 in SSAC play.

Blue Mountain Christian controlled the match offensively, outshooting ABAC 21-6 and holding an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Toppers also led 4-1 in corner kicks and carried a 12-3 shot advantage into halftime.

Daniela Nieto opened the scoring in the 18th minute, placing a shot into the top-right corner off an assist from Duda Koespel. Blue Mountain Christian held the 1-0 lead until the second half.

The Toppers extended the lead in the 76th minute when Nieto played a through ball to Nayelli Aguayo, who scored into the left side of the goal. Four minutes later, Aguayo found Alba Hernandez, whose shot went off the crossbar and into the net for a 3-0 advantage.

Nieto led the attack with seven shots, including five on goal, along with a goal and an assist despite playing 20 minutes. Aguayo had six shots, three on goal, a goal and an assist. Hernandez added three shots and scored, while Koespel recorded an assist.

Defensively, Blue Mountain Christian limited ABAC to one shot on goal over 90 minutes. Kiana Gordon made the save to secure the clean sheet, her first of the season.

The Toppers will return to The Summit on Saturday to host Wesleyan College in the SSAC Women’s Soccer Match of the Week.
