Reeves praises United in Song celebrating Mississippi role in American story
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves on Facebook praised United in Song as “a remarkable evening” that celebrated the nation and highlighted the role Mississippi has played in shaping the American story.
In the post, Reeves said he was proud to be an American and a Mississippian and commended First Lady Elee Reeves, the America250 Mississippi Commission and the volunteers who organized the event.
America250 is a national effort to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary; state commissions and local volunteers have mounted events across the country to commemorate American history and civic life. United in Song appears to be one of those patriotic gatherings intended to honor national themes while spotlighting the contributions of Mississippi communities and institutions.
The governor’s public remarks reflect the event’s civic and ceremonial focus and the role of volunteers and state commissions in staging large-scale commemorations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
