MEMA urges residents to report damage after severe weather
MEMA is urging residents who reported damage from last night’s severe weather to take specific steps to document and report losses, the agency said in a Facebook post.
The agency advised residents to file an insurance claim, take photos of damage to their homes and report damage to their county and to MEMA using a self-report tool on its website. The post instructs users to click the link, select their county of residence and complete the online form.
The post emphasizes that the self-report form is not an application for assistance. MEMA said the information collected through self-reports helps emergency managers and local officials understand the scope of damage.
MEMA is an emergency management agency that coordinates response and recovery activities during severe weather and other disasters. Reporting damage helps officials prioritize assessments and allocate resources as needed.
Residents can find the self-report tool at https://www.msema.org/report-damage. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
