The City of Meridian is remembering the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, while honoring the courage of first responders and others who answered the call, according to a message from the city government.
The city said the observance is focused on remembrance and honoring those affected by the attacks.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
