WTVA covers OPD NightCap drink-spiking prevention giveaway
WTVA 9 News visited OPD this morning to film a story about a recent NightCap Drink Spiking Prevention giveaway, OPD said in a Facebook post. The department thanked the station for coming to its location and noted the appearance included Assistant Victims Services Coordinator Christina Hervey.
The NightCap initiative, described by OPD as a drink-spiking prevention effort, reflects growing concern among law enforcement and public-health groups about incidents in which intoxicants are allegedly added to beverages without a person’s knowledge.
Victims services units within police departments typically provide support, resources and outreach to people affected by crime. OPD’s mention of an assistant victims services coordinator underscores the department’s role in combining prevention outreach with victim support.
Local news coverage can amplify public-safety messages and encourage community awareness of prevention resources. OPD said it appreciated WTVA 9 News’ coverage. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
