Jackson officers join Western Hills back-to-school backpack giveaway

Precinct 1 officers from the Jackson Police Department took part in a Western Hills Homeowners Association Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway, the department said on Facebook.

The department said Rep. Stephanie Foster invited the officers to participate. Councilman Brian Grizzell and Hinds County Supervisor Wanda Evers also attended; the department said Evers “played a major role” in making the event possible.

The department said events like the giveaway are important, especially during challenging times, because they provide assistance to families and demonstrate collaboration among community leaders, neighborhood organizations and law enforcement to support children.

In its post, the Jackson Police Department wished students a safe, successful and productive school year. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
