Oxford groups offer NightCap drink-spiking prevention tonight
Oxford Safe Site and partner organizations are inviting the public to the NightCap Drink Spiking Prevention event tonight from 9 to 11 p.m. at the Oxford Safe Site tent on the Square in Oxford, Mississippi, the group said in a Facebook post.
The event brings together the Oxford Police Department, Family Crisis Services of Northwest Mississippi, Inc., and Rebels Against Sexual Assault to provide information and resources aimed at helping people reduce the risk of drink spiking while attending nightlife events, the post said.
Organizers say such outreach seeks to raise awareness about personal safety and encourage preventative steps in social settings. Drink-spiking prevention programs typically focus on recognizing signs, safeguarding drinks and looking out for friends, and they are increasingly common at community events and college towns with active nightlife.
The Facebook post announced the hours and location but did not provide additional details about materials or demonstrations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
