Oxford police distribute NightCap drink-spiking prevention materials at Safe Site Tent
Oxford Police Department said on its Facebook page that officers are giving out NightCap drink-spiking prevention materials at the department’s Safe Site Tent and invited community members to stop by.
The department, which serves the city of Oxford and the University of Mississippi community, did not provide additional details in the post. The Facebook message encouraged residents and visitors to visit the tent to pick up the materials and learn more about drink safety.
Drink-spiking prevention efforts are part of broader public safety and harm-reduction strategies used by many law enforcement agencies and campus partners. NightCap generally refers to items or resources designed to help people detect or deter tampering with beverages; distributing such materials aims to raise awareness and reduce the risk of assaults or other harms associated with drink tampering.
Safe site tents are commonly used at public gatherings to offer information, assistance and safety resources to attendees. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
