Walmart teams join JPD in cooking competition at Hope Lodge

Walmart leaders and staff from multiple area stores joined the Jackson Police Department at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge for a JPD vs JFD cooking competition, the department said in a Facebook post.

The post said Walmart-Jackson, Clinton, Flowood, Vicksburg Meridian, Pearl, Richland and Byram were all represented as the team served families staying at the Hope Lodge.

Hope Lodge, run by the American Cancer Society, provides free lodging and supportive services to people undergoing cancer treatment and their caregivers. Community events and volunteer efforts such as food service and friendly competitions are common ways local organizations support patients and families who travel for treatment.

The Jackson Police Department thanked Erica Arrington for inviting JPD to participate in the event, according to the post. The activity highlights partnerships between public safety agencies, national nonprofits and private employers in local community support efforts.
