Suspects charged in shooting death of former college football player
Two people have been charged in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man in northern Rankin County, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Just after 6 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 100 block of Adams Road and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. Pafford EMS transported the man to a local hospital, where he later died despite medical efforts.
Witnesses said a small gray passenger car with multiple occupants left the scene, and deputies processed the scene and conducted interviews. Investigators recovered one firearm and said they identified and arrested Ladarious Harrison and Dominick Sanabria, charging both with murder. Semiko Crump and Kaylee Trimble were arrested on charges of accessory after the fact of murder, the post said.
The defendants are scheduled for initial appearances before County Court Judge David Morrow. Sheriff Bryan Bailey praised deputies and investigators for rapidly identifying and arresting the suspects and said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident. “Violence has no place in our community. This senseless act has left a family grieving and a community searching for answers. We remain committed to pursuing justice for the victim, holding those responsible fully accountable, and continuing our mission of keeping Rankin County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family,” the sheriff said.
The victim was identified as Idarrious Iantron Bowie of Lena, Mississippi. Information provided to investigators indicates Bowie graduated from Morton High School and played collegiate football at Ole Miss and Jackson State University. The investigation remains active and ongoing. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
