Pike County partners with pharmacy for National Naloxone Awareness Day
Pike County Sheriff’s Office and local partners hosted National Naloxone Awareness Day 2026 in Pike County, Mississippi, providing free naloxone kits and instruction to residents, the sheriff’s office said. The event aimed to expand access to the opioid overdose reversal drug and to teach residents how to use it.
The sheriff’s office said it organized the event with Summit Express Pharmacy, Southwest Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center, Crisis Pregnancy Center of Southwest Mississippi, K106 and PALS Rescue. Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said, “We want to make sure that the citizens of Pike County know that we are working diligently to raise awareness of this crisis. I am proud to be able to partner with these amazing organizations.”
Organizers thanked citizens who attended and received free naloxone kits and singled out Tim Stamps, Tara Dupree and the team at Summit Express Pharmacy for hosting the event. The sheriff’s office said the partnerships and volunteer efforts helped strengthen the community response when seconds count.
