Jackson police investigate death on College Hill Drive

The Jackson Police Department is investigating a death after the body of a male was found in the 1300 block of College Hill Drive, the department said in a Facebook post.

The department provided no additional details in the post, including the victim’s name, apparent cause of death or the time the body was discovered. Detectives have labeled the matter an active investigation, the post said.

Local police departments routinely secure scenes, collect evidence and work with the county coroner or medical examiner to determine cause and manner of death, officials say. The Jackson Police Department is the primary law-enforcement agency for the city and is responsible for criminal investigations and public safety.

Investigations of unattended or suspicious deaths can prompt an increased police presence in the neighborhood and may lead officials to seek tips from residents or witnesses. The department did not provide contact information in its post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
