Shots strike Vicksburg home; no injuries reported
VICKSBURG, Mississippi — Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded Wednesday, May 27, to the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle after a shots-fired call and determined that at least one projectile struck a residence, entered the home and traveled through two separate bedroom walls, the department said Thursday.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing, the department said in a release posted on its social media page.
The Vicksburg Police Department is responsible for public safety in the city, which is located on the Mississippi River and is known for its Civil War history and national military park. Police departments routinely ask for public assistance in investigations involving gunfire because such incidents can pose risks to residents and complicate efforts to identify suspects and motives.
Anyone with information about the May 27 incident is encouraged to contact the Vicksburg Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477), the release said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
