Starkville police thank schools after community event

The Starkville Police Department said in a Facebook post that it thanks the Starkville Foundation for Public Education and the Starkville School District for allowing the department to participate in a recent event.

The department said it appreciated the opportunity to be part of the event and the continued community support. The post offered a special thank-you to the officers who assisted that morning and noted that Assistant Chief Stewart placed third in his age division.

The Starkville Foundation for Public Education is a local organization that supports schools and educational programs, and the Starkville School District oversees public K-12 education in Starkville, Mississippi. Police participation in school and community events is a common way for law enforcement agencies to build relationships with students, parents and educators.

Officials said such partnerships can help strengthen community trust, provide public-safety information and support youth engagement. The department did not provide additional details about the event in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
