Jackson police thank councilman after community meeting
The Jackson Police Department thanked Councilman Kenneth Stokes after attending a community meeting at First Hyde Park M.B. Church on Coleman Avenue, the department said in a Facebook post.
The department said Chief Brackney “highly values community engagement and embraces our community partnerships which is vital to building strong, resilient and sustainable communities!” the post said.
The post did not provide additional details about topics discussed at the meeting. Community meetings such as this are a common way for local officials, law enforcement and residents to discuss public safety concerns, share information and build trust between the police and the neighborhoods they serve.
Religious institutions often serve as community hubs for outreach and civic engagement, and invitations from local elected officials can help bring officials and residents together to address shared priorities.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
