Starkville Police promote lieutenant, appoint corporal; three sworn in

STARKVILLE, Mississippi — The Starkville Police Department asked the public to congratulate Sgt. Brandon Lovelady on his promotion to lieutenant and Felisha Ellison on her appointment to corporal, the department said in a Facebook post.

The department also welcomed Officers Brett Vick, Michael Prewitt and Andrew Wigginton to its ranks. The post said the officers were sworn in by Mayor Lynn Spruill.

The Starkville Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency responsible for public safety, traffic enforcement and community policing in Starkville. Promotions and new hires help the department maintain staffing and leadership continuity as it responds to crime, traffic concerns and community needs.

Department leaders often use promotions to recognize experience and to place officers in supervisory roles that oversee patrols, investigations and community outreach. The additions are likely to affect patrol assignments and day-to-day operations as the new officers and promoted supervisors assume duties.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
