Oxford police promote three members of Criminal Investigations Division

The Oxford Police Department promoted three members of its Criminal Investigations Division, the department said in a Facebook post. Mike Burks was promoted to investigative lieutenant, Kam Herod to investigative sergeant and Jake Gibbs to investigator, the post said.

The department said the promotions reflect the dedication, professionalism and leadership each individual has demonstrated during their careers. The post invited the community to join the department in congratulating the newly promoted officers.

The Criminal Investigations Division typically handles follow-up investigations of serious crimes, gathers evidence and works with prosecutors, officials said. The Oxford Police Department serves the city of Oxford, Mississippi, which is home to the University of Mississippi and maintains public safety responsibilities for the local community.

Officials did not provide additional details in the post. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
