Scott County sheriff’s office honors fallen on Memorial Day
On Memorial Day, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office paused to remember and honor the men and women of the armed forces who died in service to the nation, saying their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.
In a Facebook post, the office said Memorial Day is more than a holiday and called on the public to reflect on the cost of liberty and to pay tribute to those who “gave their lives for a cause greater than themselves.” The post included the line, “All gave some, some gave all. Today, we remember them.”
The message was signed by Sheriff Mike Lee, Chief Deputy Brad Ellis and Public Information Officer Joshua Thames. The post also expressed gratitude to the families of the fallen and urged people gathering with family and friends to take a moment to remember those who did not return home.
Memorial Day is observed nationwide to honor military members who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said it will continue to support families of the fallen and pledged to remember their service. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
