Police arrest two in Byram shooting
BYRAM, Mississippi — Police arrested two people in connection with a shooting Monday in Byram, the Byram Police Department said.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire May 18 in the 2200 block of Meagan Drive, where investigators found more than 40 shell casings in the roadway and learned that a nearby home had been struck by bullets, police said. Witnesses reported seeing an older-model white SUV leave the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting, authorities said.
One suspect, identified by police as Micah Harris, was arrested Monday night and charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling, the department said.
Investigators located the SUV Tuesday in the 3200 block of Oak Forest Drive in Jackson and arrested a second suspect, identified as Kenneth Kelly Jr., police said. Kelly was suffering from an untreated gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, authorities said.
