Starkville police arrest two in Maxwell Street shooting
STARKVILLE, Mississippi — The Starkville Police Department said it arrested two more people April 27 in connection with an April 25 shooting on Maxwell Street near Lummus Drive.
The department identified the suspects as Dewaylon Brooks, 23, of Starkville, and Anthony Davis, 19, of Starkville. Each has been charged with attempted murder, the department said in a news release labeled “Second Update.”
Detectives previously arrested Juantel Hughes, 19, of Starkville, and Jordyn Barrett, 21, of Starkville, who also face attempted murder charges. The two April 27 arrests bring the total number of people charged in the case to four, according to the police release.
The incident remains under active investigation. The Starkville Police Department thanked community members for their assistance and urged anyone with information to call 662-323-4131, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151, or submit an anonymous tip through the department’s website. Crime Stoppers may offer a cash reward.
