Oxford Police K-9 Visits OPC Camp

Oxford Police Department said on its Facebook page that K-9 Elko and Officer Rogers visited OPC Camp to give campers an up-close look at the department’s K-9 unit.

The department said campers learned about Elko’s role in law enforcement and observed how officers and K-9 partners work together to keep the community safe. The post thanked OPC Camp for the invitation and said the department values opportunities to connect with youth.

The Oxford Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Oxford, Mississippi. K-9 units are widely used by police departments for tasks such as detection, suspect tracking and search operations, and demonstrations for youth are a common way to explain those roles to the public.

Community engagement events like this aim to build trust between officers and residents and to inspire future public servants. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
