Scrapin’ the Coast prompts traffic diversions on Highway 90

Scrapin’ the Coast is scheduled for this weekend, and a Facebook post warned residents and visitors to expect increased traffic and possible delays throughout the area.

The post said Highway 90 between Cowan Road and Debuys Road will be reduced to one lane for eastbound and westbound traffic during periods of heavy congestion. The other lane will be reserved for first responders only, and violators will be cited and towed, the post said.

If congestion requires additional measures, the post outlined traffic diversions: east-west traffic will be diverted north on Cowan Road to I-10, and southbound traffic from I-10 will be diverted west onto Seaway Road.

The post also noted Mississippi law, citing Miss. Code § 63-7-105, and reminded motorists that the statute prohibits operation of so-called “squatted” vehicles, described in the post as passenger vehicles with front fender heights raised four or more inches above the rear due to suspension, frame or chassis modifications. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
