Lee County sheriff thanks Monroe County for Fallen Officers memorial

Sheriff Jim H. Johnson thanked the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department for hosting a Fallen Officers Memorial Ceremony that honored law enforcement officers and their families, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

“It was a meaningful and respectful event honoring the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty,” Johnson said in the post. He said fallen officers and their families were recognized during the ceremony, including Deputy Rick Haggard, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year.

Johnson said no words can ease the loss, but it is comforting to see the community come together to remember those who gave everything in service to others. “We remain thankful for the continued prayers, support, and remembrance shown to Deputy Haggard’s family and to all families of fallen officers,” he said.

Fallen officers memorials are held across the country to recognize public safety personnel who died in the line of duty and to support their families. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
