Downtown Unit officers will staff a Safe Site tent at the Square across from Funky’s starting at 6 p.m. tonight, a Facebook post said.
The post said the tent is intended as a visible resource for parents, new students and other visitors who need help, have questions or are unsure what to do next. Officers will be on hand to provide directions, assist visitors trying to find their groups, arrange rides or offer basic services such as phone charging.
Officials described the priority as creating a safe and connected community and encouraged people visiting the Square to approach officers with concerns. The post invited people to meet the officers, learn more about the Square and get to know the people behind the badge.
