Investigative Sgt. Kam Herod and Investigator Atziri Ortiz recently completed a 40-hour CSI: Analysis and Processing of Crime Scenes course hosted by the Denton Police Department in Texas, the Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The advanced training focused on crime scene documentation, evidence identification, collection and preservation, photography and hands-on processing techniques, according to the post. The department said the instruction will help investigators conduct more thorough investigations.
The Oxford Police Department is the municipal agency responsible for public safety in Oxford, Mississippi, and regularly assigns investigators to handle major crimes and evidence processing. Departments often send personnel to outside training to keep up with developing forensic methods and court requirements.
By continuing to build investigative skills, the department said its team is better equipped to help bring justice to victims. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
