Vicksburg police complete youth mental health training
Vicksburg Police Department said on Facebook that staff recently participated in Youth Mental Health First Aid training hosted by the Vicksburg Warren Youth Development Center through River Ridge Behavioral Health – Region 15.
The one-day course focused on recognizing, understanding and responding to mental health and substance use challenges affecting youth ages 12–18. The department said participants received tools to identify warning signs, respond with confidence, support youth in crisis and connect young people to available resources.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is a standardized program that trains adults to provide initial support to adolescents experiencing mental health or substance use problems and to help link them to professional services.
The Vicksburg Police Department said it remains committed to continuing education and strengthening partnerships to better serve and support youth in the community. Officials said such training can aid early intervention and community safety.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
