Blue Mountain Christian beats UT Southern 4-1 in SSAC opening round
Mobile, Alabama — Blue Mountain Christian University beat UT Southern 4-1 in the opening round of the SSAC Women’s Tennis Championship, the school’s athletics department said.
The Toppers grabbed the crucial early point in doubles. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos won 6-3, and Kiersten Terris and Nami Malyaporn followed with a 6-4 victory to give Blue Mountain control of the match.
Blue Mountain extended its advantage in singles. Lina Cetina posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory, Malyaporn won 6-4, 6-0 and Ramos closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep, according to the release.
With the victory, the Toppers advance to face No. 1-seeded William Carey at 10 a.m. on the next day of the tournament. The SSAC Women’s Tennis Championship will determine the conference tournament champion. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
