Ocean Springs Police Department said it will increase patrols throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign.
Officers will actively watch for impaired driving, speeding, reckless driving and other dangerous driving behaviors, the department said. Patrols will also focus on ensuring drivers and passengers are properly buckled up.
The department said its goal “isn’t to ruin your weekend — it’s to make sure everyone gets home safely.” It urged motorists to plan ahead if their celebrations include alcohol.
The department advised choosing a designated driver, using a rideshare or taxi, or calling someone you trust for a safe ride. It also encouraged motorists to drive sober, buckle up and slow down to reduce the risk of crashes.
