Jackson Police boost patrols for Drive Sober Labor Day campaign

The Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post that it will join a national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Labor Day enforcement campaign running Aug. 19 through Sept. 7, 2026.

During the high-visibility enforcement period, the department said it and law enforcement agencies nationwide will significantly increase saturation patrols and roadside checkpoints to catch drug- or alcohol-impaired drivers.

The annual campaign aims to reduce impaired-driving crashes during a holiday period when more people travel. Local and national enforcement efforts typically focus on identifying impaired drivers and removing them from roadways to prevent injuries and fatalities.

Jackson police urged motorists to plan ahead for holiday travel and avoid driving under the influence. Increased patrols and checkpoints are intended to deter impaired driving and promote safer roads for residents and visitors.
