True Care gives donuts to Ocean Springs police for National Donut Day
OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi — The Ocean Springs Police Department said it received donuts from True Care on National Donut Day, thanking the group for providing treats to officers and staff in a post on the department’s Facebook page.
The department said the donation made National Donut Day “a little sweeter for our officers” and praised True Care’s “generosity and thoughtfulness,” adding that the gesture was greatly appreciated by everyone at OSPD.
National Donut Day, which the Salvation Army established in 1938 to honor volunteers who served donuts to soldiers during World War I, is often marked by businesses and community groups offering free or discounted donuts and other treats.
Such community gestures are common and can serve as a show of support for municipal employees and first responders, potentially helping morale and community relations, experts say. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
