Mississippi Blood Services urges donors at Flowood, Oxford centers

FLOWOOD, Miss. — Mississippi Blood Services is urging people to donate blood now to help patients across the community, the organization said Tuesday.

Donors can give at the Flowood Donor Center, 115 Tree St., open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or at the Oxford Donor Center, 2627 W. Oxford Loop, Suite C, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mississippi Blood Services said. Walk-ins are welcome.

People who prefer to schedule a donation ahead of time can call 601-368-2673, the organization said. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID, eat well before donating and stay hydrated.

Blood donations are routinely used for surgeries, emergency trauma care and treatment of chronic conditions, making a steady supply important for hospitals and patients, public health experts say. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
