Motorcyclist leads Capitol Police on 140 mph chase, arrested in Crystal Springs
JACKSON — A man was arrested early Wednesday after Capitol Police said he led officers on a high-speed chase from Jackson to Crystal Springs, authorities said.
Capitol Police attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Ridgewood Road at about 5:39 a.m., Bailey C. Martin, public information officer for Capitol Police, said. The motorcycle fled from officers and the pursuit continued onto multiple roads and onto Interstate 55 South at speeds exceeding 140 mph, Martin said.
Authorities identified the rider as Kyle King, 33. Officers took King into custody on Ruby Road in Crystal Springs with assistance from the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office. He faces charges of felony fleeing and possession of paraphernalia involving methamphetamine, and authorities said he had warrants from other surrounding jurisdictions.
High-speed pursuits pose risks to the public and responding officers and can lead to additional charges. Officials released no further details Wednesday. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
