Motorcyclist airlifted after Coahoma County crash
COAHOMA COUNTY, Mississippi — A motorcyclist was airlifted to a regional trauma center after a crash Sunday afternoon on Coahoma-Moonlake Road, the Coahoma County Fire Department said.
Firefighters and Pafford EMS were dispatched at 4:59 p.m. May 17 for a reported motorcycle collision, the department said. When crews arrived, they found one person with severe traumatic injuries. Firefighters assisted EMS in establishing a landing zone for a medical helicopter, and the patient was flown to a regional trauma center, the department said.
The Coahoma County Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue and emergency response across the county. Pafford EMS is a regional emergency medical services provider that frequently partners with local fire departments to stabilize and transport critically injured patients.
Rapid air transport is often used when patients have severe injuries or when ground transport would delay access to specialized trauma care. The fire department did not immediately provide additional details about the patient or the circumstances of the crash. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
