Motorcyclist dies in two-vehicle crash on Military Road
A motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Military Road and Black Creek Road in Lowndes County, Mississippi, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said.
Preliminary information shows a passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on Military Road and attempted to turn left onto Black Creek Road while a motorcycle was traveling eastbound, the sheriff’s office said. As the motorcycle entered the curve near the intersection, it collided with the turning vehicle. The motorcycle rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle suffered minor injuries, the statement said.
The sheriff’s office said the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team, which routinely assists in serious crash investigations.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins extended his condolences to the family and friends of the victim and asked the public to keep everyone involved in their thoughts and prayers.
