Two men die in separate Hinds County ATV, side-by-side crashes

Two men died after separate off-road vehicle crashes in Hinds County, Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard said.

The first crash occurred Saturday, May 16, in the 3600 block of McFarland Road in Raymond. Authorities said Timothy Bright, 59, of Jackson, was a passenger in a side-by-side that left the roadway and overturned. Bright died at the scene, Howard said.

The second crash took place May 9 in the 1600 block of South Norrell Road in Bolton. Authorities said Andy Sanders, 56, of Bolton, was driving an all-terrain vehicle that left the roadway and struck a tree. Sanders was taken to a local hospital and died from his injuries on Friday, May 15, Howard said.

Off-road vehicle crashes, including rollovers and collisions with fixed objects, can result in serious injuries or death. Howard provided the information to county authorities; local law enforcement handled the crash investigations. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
